These sorts of wagers are used by players frequently, as they give payoffs which are better than average. The most appealing payoff is a bet made on one number. When this number hits, a player may earn a 35:1 payout on their wager. As you can see, some inside bets may be very lucrative. Of course, casinos don’t mind these big payouts too much, because players don’t always win. It takes luck to hit a number in this manner. Now, let’s learn about some other forms of inside wagers.
The Five Line Bet: This is a set bet, which means it can only be made in a single position on the layout. The payout is 6 to 1. A gambler will place a chip or chips in the outer edge-line, in-between the 0 and the number 1, or the 00 and the number 3. By putting the chip in this position, the gambler is permitted to bet on the 1, 2, 3, 0, and 00, thus claiming the “five line” wager.
The Straight Up Bet: This is what I refer to as the “Big Daddy” wager, since it pays off at 35 to 1. If you spend a lot of time at a roulette table, you will see many players wagering on their preferred numbers. Again, this is a gamble, but the payoff is so appealing. When you hit your number (hopefully sooner than later) it’s a great feeling.
The Corner or Quad Bet: This wager earmarks four numbers for the gambler who places a chip in the middle intersection or center “cross hair” of four numbers. The payout ratio for this wager is 8 to 1.
The Split Bet: This wager is made by a player who puts a chip in-between two numbers on the layout. The payout ratio for this wager is 17 to 1.
Street or Three Line Bet: This wager is made by a gambler who centers a chip on the outer edge line of a number. This means that three numbers across the table are included in the wager. I should mention that this wager is from side to side on the table, rather than top to bottom.
Double Street or Six line: Similar to the three line bet, this wager is made by putting a chip in the middle of two rows of numbers, thereby representing six numbers. The payout for this wager is 5 to 1.
0-00 Split: This wager is for the gambler who wants to put a chip in-between the 0 and 00. It can also be placed on the line in-between the 2nd 12 and the 3rd 12 of the outside wagering area, as many players can’t access the actual 0, 00 number line from where they are situated at the table. This is called courtesy bar, and it’s usually available to those who want to make this wager. The payout for this bet is 17 to 1.
